Okay nostr, what's the best overall North American long-rifle ammunition calibre? I have heard Hornady's 6.5 creedmoor or .308 may be good contenders.

I'm assessing by affordability, precision, availability, and wide functionality. I'm mostly interested in target shooting 100-250 yards, coyotes, and whitetail deer.

That sounds like small enough game and short enough range for 5.56, which would tend to maximize your desire for affordability, availability, & wide function
