There is no need to get rid of the fiat system as many bitcoinrrd pipe dream about.

I find it better to have two or more imperfect systems for imperfect, short sighted, short attention spanned, and forgetful people to compare and remind themselves which one works best for them.

Same reason why Twitter and that other blue thing must continue to exist for Nostr to remain relevant.

Without comparisons we fail to recognise value I suppose,

👀 an interesting view 🤔

you can't "get rid of it" anyway

it will just die when it's recognised as parasitic, and people abandon it and refuse to comply

I don't think it will die away either. The world today is still divided between factions economically and politically.

i'm sure that in the days before electricity people never imagined there could be enough light to work at night either

Right. It is powered by energy that can be controlled.

i was referring to the general ignorance of the masses of humanity to the operation of brainwashing upon their ability to perceive reality, which is not so complicated as electricity, but a knowledge that would preclude the machinations of power through deception, which it depends on

I don't know about that😏. It's too much of an utter mess to let it continue to be an effective monetary network for the global population over the long-term, hell even the short-term😅🤣. #NothingLastsForever🤷

Not yet. Though, it will destroy itself eventually. I imagine future layer 2 networks eventually replacing the fiat payment system, at some point.

I hope it does fix that issue.

Yep.

I'm still curious why you believe that there's no need to get rid of it, though. History has proven time and time again that whenever a breakthrough of any kind is made, it's always out of necessity. Is that not why bitcoin was invented?

I simply prefer to have choices. I think I've said this before that we humans tend to replace one thing for another and yet we as a collective historically have remained the same.

That's understandable. Yep, I remember you saying that. And that's true. Human nature certainly isn't flexible.

I agree with you.

Totally get where you’re coming from having options is like a reality check for us flawed humans. Keeps us honest when one system starts feeling too comfy or too shaky.
