My number has been at google voice for years and it is a native google voice number. But you can port your number to google voice, with one caveat: you need to have another USA number to "verify" that the GV number is active, but it might be possible to verify via landline (magic jack etc...). There's also parkmyphone, number barn, number garage, etc.... You can also just port it to magic jack which is 43$ a year.
