you dont have to use zaps, someone can make a client without them
Discussion
this is like if a gamedev said "Oh, you don't like gameplay loop? make a mod that removes it then"
yer except nostr clients are open source and simple
right, but zapping is integrated into the fabric of Nostr and as long as it's in Nostr it'll be culturally dominant, even if you disable the button on your client.
no nostr can change in any way, if zaps are not great they wont be used much, but it appears they are very useful but the pimping is stupid tho
You don't like me distributing cultural meth? Don't smoke it then.
You don't like everybody in the city being in a weird cult? Leave the city then.
I will, and I will start a farming commune.
i will murder your commune and take your farm
sorry i mean murder your farm and take your commune
I will shoot your dog
its actually a cat that identifies as a dog
i have no issue with drugs, people have a right to individual sovereignty, drink bleach if you want, on a biology level let the stupid people delete themselves from the genepool, get tranny surgery, go for it
You and I should both know humans don't work that way, if people can get at them, they will use them. It's not about me not having access to them. It's about yet another techbro taking advantages of all the greatest weaknesses of human behaviour because they can, and because it gets money/users, without any thought given to how they're fucking up the collective psyche. Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit did it, and now they're doing it again. But it's okay this time because Jack said "Bitcoin good".
humans will adapt to social media, maybe after a war or two
Humans shouldn't have to adapt to the sub-par vision of techbros who are so socially illiterate that every platform they make only does further damage to normal social interactions. Especially if their shit vision requires a couple wars to pull off. There's a reason Bill Gates and Zuck kept their children away from phones.
social network software doesn't exist in a vacuum, it is used by and for human interaction. so thinking hard about what behavior the network protocol and software ecosystem encourages is also required.
honestly i am okay with zaps but it will shape the network a certain way
I've thought about this a bit recently, but really I think that no matter how good the thing you make is, if you hand it to people who aren't worthy of it, then how can you ever hope for it to be used correctly, much less well?
might be a little too blackpilled, though
