David Lynch never explains his films.

Which I actually like... Because on my own work I usually think so these cool things about my stuff. Then someone watches something I do and recordings it so simply and beautifully and maybe even in a way I didn't even intend and I'm just like wow... Yeah let's go with that.

BUT

In my head. So if David Lynch's work comes from his dreams and mediations. That's why all his stuff has similar characters and such. It's his brain working through his real life issues via the subconscious 🤷🏽

It really doesn't mean anything to anyone but him. But it's so beautiful and precious with poetry.

Many theorize though that it's about lynch's struggle with growing up and filling your father's shoes because around the time of making the film he had his first son. 🤷🏽 And that makes a lot of sense when you watch eraserhead with those eyes. How dreams working through the terrors of being responsible for a small creature totally dependent on you.

Explains it so simply*

I forgot about the fetus in the film. That was really disturbing.
