Someone explain the difference between Cashu and fedmint like they are talking to an IQ80. Cashu mints can be federations right? #Cashu #fedi
Discussion
no, cashu mints are single operator, "centralized"
Different ecash implementations. So an ecash token from a Fedimint cannot be redeemed at a cashu mint, or the other way around.
Cashu is focusing on the many small mints where you trust and know your mint operator “trust model.” Cashu is only lightning for fiat on/offramp.
Fedi the company is running an app that will use the Fedimint protocol ecash implementation, but they don’t run mints.
Fedimint protocol mints are federated to a minimum of 4 mint operators with a multisig to the funds. Fedimint can do btc on chain in/out (I believe) as well as lightning.
