The worst part of it was we couldn’t contact our loved ones for many hours. The only news about what was happening came from a Canadian sports radio station. Eventually the Canadians allowed us off the plane and drove us to a high school. Following morning we were billeted with local families - I managed to contact mine again last year. Lovely people
