Just playing around with the US Debt Clock:

Is it significant that the US Government deficit is larger than the entire amount of USD outstanding, as measured by M2? I'm still trying to get my head around that, but theoretically the USG could confiscate every USD held physically and every bank account holding USD (checking, savings and CD's and would still be unable to pay its debts.
