Judah was the main instigator but later regretted it. Joseph forgave him for his transgression like a brother should. He recognized that despite his brothers treacherous actions it ended up saving them all.

I believe the pharisees (at least in large part) at the time of Jesus to be Canaanites and not actual jews. Same with the jews today. I do believe the Romans, however were Israelites from the lost tribes.
