Being able to contact the node admins in case of a system crash to ask them to force close the channels would certainly make me feel more comfortable. If it's one my peers that crashes, I don't have to wait for days or weeks to see whether or not they make it back online. If the balance is mine I would close sooner, but if the channel is empty on my side I would probably just leave it to avoid paying the fees for nothing.
