how much water do you use daily, and how could you store a weeks worth in your current situation?
Discussion
I keep 20 gallons of drinking water on hand that I fill up from a watermill around here, probably once every two weeks, 4 people.
Water for other purposes isn't as much of a necessity as people think. I have no plan for that. I live close to the ocean, salt water suffices for everything but drinking.
Got a deep well and a creek so I'm good
Focused more on filtering what's very available near me than storing it in my limited space.
Canning drinking water when a batch doesn't quite fill the canner works for long-term storage.
filtering is great. we use multi stage filtering, and a series of storage containers
We're looking at a couple of water containers to put under our downspouts
its such an easy way.
i did a calculation a while back with the average house size here, and the average rainfall, and figured they are shedding an average of 5000 gallons of water off the roof per year.
Makes sense, if nothing else I can use it to water the garden and trees in slow seasons
