Hi nostr, just a quick check in for the day. We have new baby bunnies, and had not seen them until one of them ventured out of the nest. There are at least 4 of them that we can see, very cute. We'll see how things go with them when they start running around in the chicken run. This is still an experiment, and this is the first litter born into the new setup, where the rabbits and chickens share the run. Anyway, yall have a good evening nostr friends. #grownostr #homesteading #rabbits

Love it, are you keeping the rabbits in the run just with chicken wire on the ground or something else?
We have a double layer, chicken wire and netting. We stapled the wire in the ground, every few feet. So far they havent dug out of the run.
By netting you mean hardware cloth?
No, we originally used the electronetting stuff that a friend gave me, not electrified. Then we added the layer of chicken wire.
Got it, so both are on the ground to prevent burrowing. Thanks
Yes, and they have burrowed some, to keep cool, but within the run, not on the edges.
For sure! nostr:nprofile1qqsy6q3ua80awknlxp6m368qssqghct6ra6scca4meepumhcswkuwegpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuvrcvd5xzapwvdhk6qgdwaehxw309aukzcn49ekk2qghwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8x6tpd4ehgu3wvdhk6zrm08k does it similar, but he made a hugelkultur mound in his run where they burrow
That sounds interesting. For us, this was an experiment for sure. But so far so good. And i think the rabbits are happier with alot more space to run around.
