it better that they start to learn something about how things work
rather than find another platform for producing short attention grabbing content

That was painful to read, but he's probably speaking for all newbies, there.
Just the basic ideas, that storing data costs money, or that you could store your own data, or that media are separate from text, is a nonstarter for most of them.
for sure.
but maybe a few of them will learn something.
just being here
even for a little while
could have an impact.
Yeah. Using Nostr actually teaches you how social media really works.
I know about zero people, outside of Nostr, who realize that the images on websites are not part of the HTML, they're just linked to from there.
people who used steemit and its clones learned about that tho, nostr:npub1cxp3l03x20mkzezzr4takm8w8zuva7xwvacmcewp97z58hjt8xls3mexlq was one of my compatriats from there - he still uses the community-take-over after Justin Sun turned the steemit.com app into a koreabot fest - it also uses markdown, as well
but yeah, most average people, they have no idea about anything of how it's done
Isn't it amazing that nobody know what hypertext means/is?
OP (nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka ) already addressed your points.
And just like 99% of Bitcoiners who don’t run a node, 99.99% of ex Tik Tokers will not host their own video server and jump over to #nostr . Not never, but not yet ;)
People working 9 to 5 jobs drained by fiat, taxes, and fees, the last thing they want to do is learn how Data Storage centers work.
People want gratification, if we can't offer that to them then we lose.
I dont agree they are necessary
but do agree the vast majority won't find nostr or stay if they do.
just saying it will have a positive impact.
disruption is good.
