Unfortunately, I have come to the same conclusion. There‘s a systematic approach behind all that under the guise of making the world a better place. But it‘s just a guise.
IMHO that‘s also why there‘s no real plan to reduce the destruction of the planet & the dependence of humanity on dwindling resources.
