Are privacy advocates simply traumatized by mass society? They've been beaten down and abandoned, so it's natural to distance themselves from the abuser. In this case it's the enforcer part of mass society.

I see this in many "normal" people too. They're afraid of everything. A good example is those fake cameras in Walmart. They installed them just to promote fear. Perhaps folks like Snowden are Walmart cameras?
