It's called pollution.
Commerical airliners make shitloads of hydrocarbon pollution.
Microscopic particles, water vapour sticks to it, as the particles fall they're so light that when they get to a thicker section of the atmosphere they blanket out.
If they had more oxygen going into the combustion there would be a lot less pollution.
