i've been following the open source hardware development projects for years now, over 20 years since they started, and they have had very little funding or progress.
if china is helping us get auditable, secure hardware, this is a good thing. auditable. open. no national security letters or secret agreements.
i know that obviously china is doing it for their own security reasons but the simple fact of the matter is golden keys are a liability for cryptographic security systems.
once the bad guys find them, the whole system is fucked.
I just find it ironic that "democratic" and "capitalist" america views open source as evil, but "communist" "totalitarian" china views it as good.
there's no doubt the communist totalitarianism is evil, and that the "democratic capitalists" are totalitarian and fascist, and the thing the chinese commies are seeing as "good" is the fact that such open standards level the playing field.
i mean, if china is making open hardware, US government can audit the hardware and NOT embargo such hardware sales.
it's about fucking time that someone woke up to the fact that security is not improved if it is not symmetrically improved.
