For now, but don't you think this can be resolved?
Discussion
Yes
Oh definitely it can be partially resolved. I just think we're still a long way from reaching a point where the pain is bad enough to make the majority of people do something about it.
This is human nature though. Everyone knows eating well and exercising is important for your health but most still don't choose to do the work.
I doubt the masses will come to nostr because of fear/pain
People will flock to nostr because they can do something they deeply care about MUCH better than with anything else
Interoperability, censorship-resistance, data-ownership, etc. will always just be cherries on-top.
I was thinking about WhatsApp, because it's an awesome and controversial story. When comparing to Damus (ignoring differences in protocol), there difference with WhatsApp is that it is a client that doesn't allow users to send and receive messages to other clients of the same protocol. This gave it extra power in having first mover advantage, but it makes it inoperable.
I think next to the properties you name there is also the potential of allowing for a low threshold experience because Nostr only requires one verification that is then inter-operable over the whole width of the protocol.
Yes. Just make everything they want to use run on #Nostr.
Good point, it will likely take a lot of time, perhaps more than a generation for this mindset to adapt to the new paradigm.
