It would be really nice if we had a way for select third parties to publish zap events for you without giving them your nsec key

You can, that's how 99% of people are doing it today.

It just needs to be the key in the original lnurl pay json

Isn’t that how you’re able to “fake” zaps?

I can fake zaps because I'm one of the that's actually using my own key for zaps so I can just sign fake zap events.

Some clients don't check the key in the lnurl so you could fake zaps that appear on those clients.
