Chainsaws are useful tools.
And if your kid can handle a chainsaw safely, it's a great way to learn to work and feel good about getting things done.
If they're not able to use it safely, nobody would find it strange to take the saw away, and not taking the saw away could well land you with a court case if things go tragic enough.
As soon as it's a phone though, despite the fact that it does get to life and death situations, people see things differently.
