Depends, people keep bringing up technical limitations that do seem legitimate. But the hosting model is better and hopefully that can carry it.

Alex brought up one earlier where basically, if enough people download their followers, it will ddos a relay. I’ve seen relay operators complain about this before too. Some ppl also don’t like that Nostr relies on json. I don’t actually know if that matters or not but I’ve seen 2 people bring it up.
the ddos problem is because nostr hasnt solved distributing content yet

The people on mastodon really just want forums with extra steps. They would block everybody using this network today for being crypto friendly anyway
The people on fedi who are not on mastodon are likely comfortable where they are. You would need some kind of killer feature or benefit to bring them over. It could happen given how fast people are building shit here and how slowly it happens over there, but they have a huge head start
