They seem to like "crypto" because it makes the money go brrrrrr. Stablecoins are the buyer of last resort for the US Bonds. Who else wants these things? I know many Boomers have fond memories of the bond market in the 80's, but that ship sailed a long time ago.
The powers that be seem to think bitcoin is dirty and needs to he confiscated and baptized by the state so that it may be used as a store of value. They made it illegal to smelt digital gold and rubber stamped paper bitcoin. Free Ross, but lock them up.
The plan seems to be to promote paper bitcoin to inflate the US stock market. That's my tin-foil hat take anyway. 😅
I suspect the thought of using bitcoin to buy soap never occured to them. It's like they read Popper's book ten years ago and never studied bitcoin again.
I think it'd be more on brand (and funnier) if they bought ethereum.
