Today I look back at the decision of my mom, when I was 8, to not listen to the doctors when they wanted to put me on Ritalin. I was “disruptive” at school. My mom instead took me off sugar and forever changed the trajectory of my life. I was simply a highly extroverted boy that loved to talk. I remain that adult today that learned to focus through work and effort, and not drugs. I also am probably much taller than I would have been taking the drugs. Eternally grateful.
