That's a change I've actually made on my Debian based systems for a while. Use dracut, ditch grub, and just boot the kernel straight from uefi.
efibootmgr is awesome.

i read somewhere they are planning that, but i'm not sure when they are making that change.. ..seems like they would wait until the next LTS in 2026, but who knows
