is low time preference from the bible?
Good question. The term itself is not (I first heard it used by Saifedean), but the concept is everywhere in Scripture. For instance, God often fulfills His promises over generations and makes generational covenants with His people. The idea of faithful perseverance and trusting God for things that certain peoples may not see in their lifetime but whose children or grandchildren will see is a common occurrence.
Beyond that, the Book of Proverbs (esv.org/Proverbs+1/) and much of the Wisdom literature in the Bible do have the larger themes of discounting the future vs. not discounting it woven through them.
Last thought is that people tended to discount the future less throughout much of history as compared to people today (at least in part by necessity). Generational thinking, seasonal planning and preparation, succession, and having many members of the household economy (particularly children) to continue family trades and business and care for the elderly members was all much more common. These things are in line with God's design for Creation as opposed to frivolous, selfish living and the squandering of wealth, which the bible often warns against.
Does that get to the heart of your question or did I miss what you were asking?
interesting, very informative, thank you sir🤙
