Really, itâs all just biological instincts:
We, as a species, have always been problem solvers as long as weâve had opposable thumbs.
When your brain is geared to problem-solving that means it is fixated on identifying problems.
As human beings, we have no problem with finding things to complain about despite our circumstance:
We almost all live on the planet able to now afford all the milk and honey we want, we wake up on plush crafted beds, we all have refrigerators in our homes to keep our food safe, we have AC and heating, etc. A century ago any of that was not very expected, and two centuries ago it was unheard of.
But today we will still bitch relentlessly if something like the ice maker stops working on the fridge. Thatâs bc weâre geared to fixate on problems, weâre geared to seek out and identify problems.
Itâs how we make the world a better and better place, but it is also a negative thought pattern that doesnât leave room for satisfaction and happiness.
Thatâs where overcoming our biological selves with self-reflection and cognitive discipline comes in.
We have to manually train ourselves to focus on our blessings; Because itâs in our nature to focus on our woes.
But once youâve run out of problems your mind will find some where there are none if without your willâs intervention.
