Long term, yes. But at the moment one's limited on places to use it as a medium of exchange:

Nobody can stop you from controlling or transacting with Bitcoin, which is a degree of monetary freedom not afford by anything else.
You can also buy gift cards and visa prepaid cards with Bitcoin (while earning sats back rewards) and use them to buy anything you need.
Bitcoin is also liquid in all major fiat currencies 24/7 easily allowing users to access fiat whenever they want while not being subject to the pitfalls of fiat (censorable / confiscatable / subject to inflation / not operational 24/7 / used to fund wars and governments).

Just be nice if more than ~2 physical places around me accepted ⚡
Yessir I agree and I’m in favor of grassroots irl merchant adoption. I’ve done so myself with excellent results.
Have you listened to Parker Lewis recently on this subject?
Any merchants in London not on the map?
Nope - but aware of the man! Got a link?
Not familiar with London so no help there.
Parker talks about how he thinks there is a wave of merchant adoption coming from existing Bitcoiner’s who will start to request payment in their businesses in Bitcoin. It’s an interesting thesis and I remember that’s exactly what led me to start requesting payment in Bitcoin.
I believe it is in this talk: https://youtu.be/iyGGMU1_PIY?si=wSFTcWEFd6pScfia
Great! Thanks for that link, just finished watching -- aggree with the thesis 100%.
Become self employed on bitcoin standard recently so definitely see the game theory angle being played out. Not to mention (1) the ease of accounting with a transparent ledger (2) not needing a bank to accept payments!
It’s definitely materializing. Parker is so sharp.
