I like to use Kdenlive as my video editor of choice. No Adobe slop necessary.
Not to mention, Adobe actually uses the data you leak in order to train its AI models. That's in their legal documents and privacy policies, I think.

We learned Adobe in film school, so I’ve stuck with it but technically, most video editors are quite similar. I assume I can pick it up easily, so I’ll check out Kdenlive
Kdenlive is awesome, but I don't think it can do everything AfterEffects does yet.
Although it probably can when used with Blender and some other free and/or open source tools
What would you do?
I don't use AfterEffects or its alternatives in my editing. I'm very simplistic with it.
Though, if I needed AfterEffects-style shenanigans in the future, I would consider something like Natron, Friction, or Rebaslight.
