Agree with what you said. It's even about how this subject is discussed.. I mean the use of the hyphen.. Listen to almost anyone and I should identify as an English hyphen American. Or you're an African hyphened American. This is the covert way to separate Americans. I can't substantiate (haven't taken the time) but I've heard it was Jessie Jackson who started this way of identifying people. I will never identify someone that way. I'm an AMERICAN of English heritage, and you might be an AMERICAN of African heritage. It's been amazing how just identifying people in this manner makes me feel more patriotic. I'm an American first. Our Constitution protects Americans of the World's Heritages and there isn't a hyphen in sight! So where are your ancestors from and what kind of American are you?
