Every time I start a fast download, my Wi-Fi access point begins to make a high-pitched noise. When the download finishes, the noise stops. Over time, I no longer perceive this as noise; it has become one of my senses, so I unconsciously know whether my computer is downloading something or not. It's quite magical, honestly.
When radio was invented, lots of people thought there were little things inside it making the noise.
