The US government WILL be returning the bitcoin recovered from the 2016 @bitfinex hack IN KIND. ~94,000 bitcoin valued at ~$9.4B today were recovered 3 years ago.
Props where props are due. The US government is doing the right thing.
Bitcoin is up 3.21% so far today. Currently sitting at $99,200.
they will have to sell a good chunk of it to reimburse the shitcoin they launched to cover the hack
