I spent the first half of Gabo's book with the word betrayal like a gray cloud over my head. Then, the usual Gabo appeared in fullness and I laughed with joy and surprise. It is not his best book and perhaps it would have been better if they did not publish it. However, as a lifelong reader of GGM I was happy enjoying it even if it was just for a few moments. And yes, I'm going to reread his books. I will start with my first and favourite “El Coronel no tiene quien me escriba” (No One Writes to the Colonel).
