I vibe with this sentiment hard.
I too came from those humble anon beginnings on bbs, irc, aol/aim prs.
It was so different back then because there were no pictures or profiles, no real influencers, but the persons with skills did influence others.
There was so much better signal because the barrier to entry was so much higher.
It’s funny today when I see ads using “lol” and jargon we invented, memes before they were memes, it was entirely different than what we have today.
I am guilty however of posting random pictures, tagging my chick who I onboarded, shit like that, but my attitude is the same, I don’t really give a shit because I have nothing to hide, and I am invulnerable.
I too, do not like Twitter etc, and I now only use nostr, period. With the exception of direct messaging, or group voice chats, which I use corny chat or nostrnests (big up Derek and also Vic good job guys).
I don’t know that we can ever have those days back bro, there’s no more egg dropping to hold a nick, pulling billing info on a sn, feels kinda sad in a way.
The people who use the internet now have normie ized it to death and it’s turned into “make it stupid ppl proof” and it’s at the cost of our privacy and freedom and data, for corporate profit.
I speak for all the oldschool hackers, yea, those were definitely the days man.
Cheers.🍻
