My friend recently competed in a couple Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments which levelled up his game. As a result, we've been going toe to toe the last couple weeks until he finally whooped my ass.

Me being me, I decided to upgrade my strength training and let's just say It bought me some time until he catches up. Last night we went a few rounds which led to me whooping him again.

I humbly told him I had to change my workout routine and today I woke up to a screenshot of him sending me his workout stats this morning.

There was a huge grin on my face!

These are the type of friends you should have in your circle, those who are constantly trying to self-improve and reinvent themselves.

Message of the day is to choose your tribe wisely.

Although now retired from BJJ, my thoughts: while strength has its benefits, technique and patience worked for me. As an older guy, I couldn’t keep up with the young studs, but by playing smarter, I could at least keep from tapping out. Training, not competing, mind you.

Ya, technique is important, though, sthrength and flexbility have advantages haha.
