When government ceases to follow the rules laid out by the people, it ceases to be government, it is become a band of barons and thieves.

The growth of western 'democractic' despotism has intentionally been hidden from view through the mechanistic systems of mind control, but today its effects have enlarged so much that it can no longer be hidden from view.

Which always happens in ever government and in fact the more free a society the more tyrannical the state eventually becomes.

The functions of government can be replaced primarily with bitcoin and other public records.

Record of title can be registered on a public blockchain and signed and timestamped as a side-chain to bitcoin. Proof of title of anything that could be stolen can be proven similarly to a bitcoin transaction is validated. This makes sale of stolen goods impractical and possession a liability.

The main function of government is judicial. The judiciary today uses the force of government to enforce its judgments because it is a component of government. In an ancap world, the judiciary would only function as a trusted source of information about an individual. If an individual were deemed untrustworthy through credible judgments, their life would be made more difficult than one that wasn't. For example, if someone were a danger to society, a free society would not allow that person to walk freely on private property.

Ancap intellectuals have shown that the judiciary does not need to be provided by government. Historically judgments were primarily pecuniary and issued by the elders of the city that sit at the city gates.

If someone had a judgment against them by the elders, or they had a bad reputation communicated from other cities, either the outsider complied with the judgment or they weren't allowed to do commerce in that city. The elders were effectively a web of trust.

A public record of credit accomplishes the same function. The problem is that credibility of the judiciary is enforced by government force and not by the individual reputation of the judge.
