# OpenSnitch Network Connection Monitor

OpenSnitch is not available in any of the repositories right now, so you must install it in a different manner.

This means once it is installed, it will not be updated. You will have to download and install updates MS Windows style 😟 until it becomes available in a repository.

The easiest way to currently install OpenSnitch is to grab the .deb packages for Debian based distros, (Ubuntu, Mint, Pop OS, etc). You must grab both the daemon and the GUI ".deb" files.

Once downloaded, you can double-click them in a file browser, which will launch the .deb files in the software center.

1. Grab the daemon .deb:

(click on Latest)

https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch/releases

2. Grab the GUI .deb file:

(Latest)

https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch/releases

3. Browse to your saved files & double-click them. This brings up the Software Center. Click install from there.

There are also .rpm files.

I wonder how this will work (or not work) on an #immutableLinux distro like #FedoraSilverblue, #bluefin, #bazzite, #secureblue, etc. Run rpm in #toolbox or #distrobox?
