Foosball is a gateway B&C that leads to even worse B&C. Not even once.

What’s that?

Bread and circuses. I just didn't want to type it out

I mean even in a non fiat world, there will be grand sports and spectacles. I think sports are a healthy outlet for people’s tribal instincts. Instead of fighting each other, they get that aggression out in nonviolent ways. And entertainment is healthy in moderation.

If it's on a small scale with players from the community, I totally agree. But one game for a whole nation borders on propaganda for me.

How is it different from watching movies?

I rarely watch movies for the same reason actually 👀

Also because they're long.

What do you do for entertainment? Tv shows? Video games?

Usually just hobbies or video games. Though for the past year the only game I've been playing is final fantasy 14 online. Audiobooks, podcasts, exercise. Occasionally I will watch some shows or anime I downloaded to my jellyfin server.

I just avoid anything with a lot of marketing or propaganda at all costs.

I’m playing ff7 at the moment. Really good game that I wish I would’ve played before.

The propaganda isn’t really there in the actual games though. It was bad during Covid and that’s when I stopped watching it for a while. My logic is that it’s all entertainment anyway. I read my Austrian economics, I work my job, stack my sats. I get hella depressed sometimes though because I don’t treat myself enough. Today was the first time I watched a sports game with friends. Haven’t seen them in months.

It's different programming. You rarely burn down a city after a movie. Sports go in circles, they mimic the natural cycles and are highly addictive. That's not the worst part, it's more about the lost time and it's making the fans lose focus on more important things in life.

There are also benefits like you've mentioned. It releases the social pressure in a very controlled manner. They're good for practicing the memory game, unfortunately the data is mostly junk. It's really good for studying numbers and human behavior. The data sets are really impressive. I've done it for many years before bitcoin.

Although sports are really good for health and whatnot, watching them is a sneaky form of energy theft and the games per se are rigged. However, there are upsides like those mentioned above. Everyone will get there when they get there.
