Spent the morning cleaning out the deep litter of my chicken coop, a once a year task. I use biochar in there on a regular basis, so I especially wanted to use a mask. However, it's clear I need to upgrade my mask.

The char becomes biologically active once combined with the organics in the coop, especially once composted. It also cuts down on any smells. I add about 3L every time I add more carbon to the bedding. With the deep litter, I only clean out the coop once a year. If you want a lot more info, check out Jack Spirko and the survival podcast.
