Why do you start with Atone? Is there a calculation behind it?
ATONE has the 5 most used letters in English. And if there are no hits from ATONE, I'll use BUILD to check for the other vowels, U and I.
I prefer ALIEN -> TOURS
I believe I & L are more common than O & T in 5-letter words specifically
And R & S are definitely more common in 5-letter words than B & D
So this got me thinking, and I calculated the frequency of each letter in each 5 letter word in english.
I found a list of them here:

So I downloaded them and ran the following command to get the most frequent letters:
