Why doesn’t the central bank just stop printing such much money? You cannot have 100% annual inflation without the number of monetary units increasing by approximately 2x.
Discussion
My friend, the Central Bank of Argentina generates approximately 3.4 billion pesos a day in interest on its own notes (35.000.000.000). That is, notes that private banks buy from the central bank and pay them in liquidity and interest. If that's not a massive printing of money I don't know what it is. We have printed our monetary base several times from the year 2000 onwards.
