It is complex. It could be an option. Although it is an option that is not self-custodial. It may have its niche for very low transactions. And of course, the federation must have or rather build a very good reputation. Because there is a key point of these layer 2 systems. Trust

Don't know about fedimint, but in Cashu, you can attach bitcoin script spending conditions, so you can make dlcs. There is a better way though, because since the amount of coins does not matter, you can split the whole amount with different conditions. Let me know if you want to learn how to do it.
