I don’t support the banning of any platforms as the decision about what kids can access should be a parental responsibility and not the role of the government, but the idea that Snapchat could be exempted is ridiculous. A lot of kids are using it but it is probably the worst out of all of them.

I’ve to read this.

From all the messaging apps I know, this is the one kids use the most.

Freaking stupid.

The reason they say it could be excluded is because it is a messaging app rather than social media so may not fall into the definition of what is banned..

I did read it, I get it… but is ridiculously stupid.

We (our government) want/need the tik tok algo. it's much more effective at training and hypnotizing than what any of the others (meta and X) got going on. We'll have the algo, just hand tight.

Completely agree. Parents should be dealing with this and not Government.

The only role Government should potentially have is removing phones from classrooms (where parents don’t step up).

Excluding Snapchat is ridiculous.

Given the mix of independents it’s unlikely this bill will be passed.

It sounds like the misinformation/disinformation bill could get blocked so hopefully this may go the same way.

I think there are a lot of parents supportive of this though because it seems like an easy way out from having to enforce restrictions on their kids themselves, and they don’t really see the bigger issues with age & id verification on social media..

I’m hoping cooler heads will prevail. I’m seeing discussions on privacy starting to get some traction. 🤞
