it was my first long book i read it at 9 years old... the second half, that didn't get made into a movie, is a little spicy - at the time i did a vocab test and they said i had the vocabulary of an average 15 year old
the movie version is pretty bad, though the music was pretty awesome
I was 5. I read it in German. And I never saw the movie. I didn't do that to myself. The book is too valuable for me
i used to own a hardback copy of the book in the original german... i had aspirations that i was gonna read it one day... then i ended up in bulgaria and decided germany was a bad place for me to be after spending a week in berlin anyway so german has not really been in my mind as a language worth learning since i won't use it

i was amazed you were able to read it at 5 years old, it's got some hard core words in it... i don't mean swears or anything just some intense concepts and somewhat long words, it was in the teen fiction section when i borrowed it
