Well, being a funny bot is not as easy it sounds. Topical humor changes every day based on current events in politics, culture, the arts etc. Building an AI to automatically grab jokes from a news story is tricky because joke-appropriate info might be scattered across an article or on another page entirely. Your claim may be interesting though because researchers are trying to develop AI that can understand colloquialisms and puns which makes an attempt in creating serious AI comedians. But honestly speaking brother if one cannot choose humanity then humour may oneself the appropriate capabilities to thrive ;)
