I think quitting coffee may have been a mistake.

The longer issue is that I'm struggling a bit with both carb addiction and overeating, I think. Yes, removing caffeine improved my sleep, but it also removed the hunger suppression and the ritual of consuming something - so I started eating more, snacking more, etc. Even if I didn't stray to carbs, I was still eating sometimes twice as much per day as I was before.

So bringing coffee back, just trying to keep it to 1-2 cups per day, and maybe not every day, hoping it will help me get back on track.

This is mostly what my comments about addiction have been referencing as well. Sugar/carb addiction may be my hardest issue to overcome yet, because it is so easy to relapse, and everyone around you expects you to fail (or just eat carbs, if they don't know you're trying not to).

Food has always been at the center of how my family has interacted. We are one of those families that still sits together for every meal. I don’t exaggerate when I say “every”

Food was the love language I was raised to speak and I speak it well. I can fully sympathize with the sugar/card addiction.

Coffee too falls into this “how we interact” trap. It’s the anchor for so many morning and post dinner conversations.

I try to moderate but wouldn’t say I battle whole heartedly or even have much of a desire to.
