Meh. If governments were competent maybe I’d be concerned but they’re not so I’m not bothered

Of course they're not competent (yet), but anytime they can use AI to their evil plans. It's more than enough to just order some things to modify in the AI and later just implement some "additional functions"...

I’d be more concerned about them coercing private companies to use AI to their ends.

The reason I take Australia’s CBDC very seriously for example is the RBA didn’t do it themselves, they opened it up to our banking and financial services sector who are actually competent at executing large scale projects.

When governments try to do complex tech projects they become money sinks and boondoggles, when they outsource to private sector you know they are serious.
