Okay, here's my unadulterated opinion, on one of them.

War might sometimes be necessary, but it is always ugly and full of gruesomeness, it always hits civilians hardest (directly or indirectly), and nobody gets to walk away The Good Guy.

I knew that, before Palestine erupted into chaos and rubble, because I grew up the granddaughter of both a conquered people and the conquerors. My elders always said the best offence is a good defense because being at war is the worst thing you can experience, so make sure nobody is tempted to try you.

That is why it is to be avoided. That is why you shouldn't encourage other people to engage in it, but it is also why I am completely calm discussing it. This is what war looks like. There is no mercy there. Only winners and losers and surviving the next 20 yards. Stop wringing your collective hands and making a surprised face. What did you expect?

Also, appealing to your enemy for humanitarian aid, while you continue to happily rain bombs down on them as part of your grand plans to wipe them into the sea and conquer the world, is a whole new level of hypocrisy, but we're supposed to pretend not to notice. This is me noticing.

Choosing war always means you lost every previous opportunity to choose something better.
