Generally speaking, other than the use of BTC, what are people's plans for a worldwide economic decline (however that may play out)?

In perspective, I was raised during the end of the Child War by older parents who were born into impoverished families during the Depression. I was kind of raised with "yep, embrace the suck and you better have skills of you want to come out on the other side of this okay" world view.

But, that doesn't mean I've thought everything through. I'm sure that I haven't. I'm sure that I'm not clever enough to see everything that should be obvious.

So, what, if anything, are you all thinking?

Obviously, I'm not asking for details. I'm just looking for a conversation and ideas.

Depends on what you think will happen, over what time-frame. Personally, I think we're in for 1-2 decades of moderately-paced decline in the West, *but* potentially also with some major tipping points which will create more intense periods of upheaval and crisis (e.g. China adopting gold standard, war with Russia escalating, Saudi no longer pricing oil in USD, new pandemic prompting more medico-security authoritarianism, major global cyber-attack, etc)

My short term actions: pay off debt; review home security; have emergency preps (PV panels, generator, water supplies etc) ready for short-term disruption. Stack wood as well as sats!

My medium-term actions: build up passive income streams and online businesses (which can potentially be run from anywhere). Get Starlink and fully self-sufficient PV + storage. I already have an overseas property but the area is not as stable as I'd like, so might move that. Build trusted local community relationships & learn who has useful skills to barter, etc.

My long-term actions: accumulate difficult-to-confiscate wealth (e.g. precious metals, overseas investments, BTC); maybe consider a second citizenship; become more self-sufficient (grow more vegetables at home, etc). Most importantly: teach my kids to be self-reliant and aware of what is really happening around them!

(PS: There should be a #PrepperNostr community; let's build it!)

Personally. I am not so pessimistic about the “world” economic productivity. Based on many measures, they are better and still improving. For e.g. :
