Jesus tells his listeners in Matthew 5:34 "to swear not at all"
Curious. Matthew 5:34 appears to have nothing to do with that. I’m interested in how you made that connection.

Either the website that quoted it , is using a different version of the bible kjv etc. Or they just quoted the wrong scripture chapter/verse.
He also expects us to be pure of mind body and soul. And I think it's obvious any cuss word is deemed as crude and not pure.
