Wow, the marketplaces out there that allow people to sell things for bitcoin totally suck.

The vast majority of them have gone under, and the only one that is still around (bitify.com) would lump my cipherpunk hardware in with scammy things like "give you 10 Minute Workday Program cost ($2,500.00)"

That item costs $64 USD, for anyone wgo was wondering. You can't make this stuff up!

Meanwhile, ebay now charges 13.25% per sale (and still doesn't accept bitcoin)!

Newegg does accept Bitcoin, but to get on there you have to have a company registered with the government, which is way more overhead than I want selling some open source hardware that I handmade.

So we're back to posting a note on a bulletin board system and then manually sorting out orders, shipping addresses, payments, etc.

It's very disappointing. I would love to buy and sell with Bitcoin more but the marketplaces out there suck.

Once artisans.coop gets established, I plan on raising the issue of accepting Bitcoin. Right now they're too busy with all the normal technical woes, so I don't want to suggest taking on even more features yet.

If anyone has a concrete way to show them that it will increase sales, I'd love some way to hear your suggestions. I expect that to be the main concern.

I expect the conversion to go "Why prioritize something as complicated as accepting Bitcoin when we don't think anyone will actually use it? We should focus on the features that will be more useful."

It'd be great if I could say something more than "I think it'll make a measurable increase in sales." and "We won't really know how popular out will be until we try"

But be aware, there are some serious issues there. However, I will join the project if they'll accept my changes and work with me. So it'll get better.
